Locals who take Contramar seriously treat it as an afternoon, not a dinner — the room is designed for daylight, and the walk-off after three hours of wine is part of the experience. The Roma-Condesa walking loop is arguably the best free hour of design tourism in the Americas. Nobody who lives here does 'dinner at Contramar' — they do 'lunch that becomes evening.'
Book Contramar 14:30 Friday. Do the Casa Luis Barragán reservation for 12:00 (free walkthrough Tue/Thu with advance email). Walk Amsterdam Ave. back to the restaurant. After: Baltra for one mezcal, then home.

- 02Contramar's 14:30 seating is calmer than the 13:30 rush and puts you outside at sunset.
- 03Baltra doesn't take reservations; walk-in at 20:00 gets a bar seat, later gets a wait.
Good to know
- ✗Booking Contramar at night. The room and the food are calibrated for daylight — night service exists but is not the meal.
- ✗Trying to add a museum after the meal. You will have had two bottles of wine. The walk is the correct after-plan.
- ✗Ubering the six blocks between Casa Barragán and Roma. The walk through Colonia Hipódromo is the point.
