Fine Dining
The tasting menus worth planning a trip around.
If I only have one fine-dining dinner in Mexico City, where should I go?
Book Quintonil if you can get in. Book Pujol's taco omakase (the bar, not the dining room) as a defensible second. Rosetta is the honest third and easier to reserve.
How does sushi actually rank in Mexico City — is it worth eating here?
CDMX has one of the strongest sushi scenes in the Americas outside LA and NYC — driven by a large Nikkei-Mexican community and daily fish flown in from Ensenada. Rokai (Cuauhtémoc) and Kaita (Polanco) are the two counters that would hold up in Tokyo. Everywhere else, order the local hybrids — aguachile-nigiri, chile-serrano crudo — not the tuna nigiri.
What time should I get in line at Contramar to avoid the wait?
Be in line by 12:45 for a 1:15 seating. Show up at 2:00 and you're waiting 60–90 minutes. The room turns once at 1:00 and again around 4:00 — those are the two windows that don't require patience.
