Grab an espresso and pastry at Chiquitito Café, then walk two blocks to Kurimanzutto, one of the city's premier contemporary art galleries housed in a former timber yard. Continue down Gob. Rafael Rebollar to check out the small design studios, and end with a long, casual lunch of seasonal plates at nearby Sobremesa.
What locals actually do
San Miguel Chapultepec is a sleepy residential enclave that has resisted the hyper-commercialization of neighboring Condesa. Chilangos love it because it feels like a village within the city, dominated by family-run tienditas and modernist architecture rather than boutique hotels. Locals usually head here on Saturday mornings when the galleries open new exhibitions and the streets fill with residents walking their dogs. It is quiet after 19:00, so we do our heavy exploring during daylight hours and head to Condesa or Roma for late-night drinks.
